Adam Characteristics Chairs

Modern Round Back Chairs 

The modern round back chair clearly took inspiration from the Adam Characteristics Chairs. They have a similar style to them. Also, the round back chairs are used in rooms that try to mimic the style of rooms created in the English Renaissance. The style has just been more modernized now.

Mirrors are coming back into style now. Which is so cool! But as we see in most furniture pieces that are created nowadays they are much more modern and simplistic. The Mirror that was created in the English Renaissance is much more extravagant and a statement piece.

Eden Fabric is a detailed fabric that was common during the English Renaissance. They are still making them today. They are just much more complicated and vibrant now.

Many companies still create this fabric. One of the main ones is, Clarke and Clarke. They create many absolutely beautiful patterns and give off the vibe of fabrics made back then.     The amount of detail on the original chair and mirror is crazy, especially compared to the simpler modern day examples. I like how your one step further was about Eden fabrics. They definitely played a big part in this era, being both a fun and unique element to this time period!

Week 9- Spanish Renaissance

Spanish Renaissance This week we learned about the Spanish Renaissance. This was a period where art and culture were flushed in Spain. It happened mostly in the 15th and 16 centuries. Similar to the Italian Renaissance there was a revival of classical art and architecture. It was also influenced in many ways by the Italian Renaissance.  Alhambra Gardens  Modern Gardens  For this comparison, I wanted to find a modern-style garden with a vibe similar to the  Alhambra Gardens. They both have very vertical elements down the center that lead the eye to the focal point (the  Alhambra at the top and the couch at the bottom.) The modern Garden has very sharp and straight lines while in the other gardens, there are some arches and the plants are not as picture perfect. French Renaissance- Neoclassic This week we learned about the French Renaissance. Similar to the other Renaissacese, we have learned about. This was a time of rebirth in France mostly centered around art, philosophy, and inventions. This period lasted from the 15th century to the early 17th century. The French Renaissance was followed by styles such as Baroque, Rococo, and the Neoclassical style. French Canopy Bed Modern four post Bed  The reason a canopy bed was created was to be able to close the curtains and have privacy. All of the modern versions of the bed have no curtains it is all just for the aesthetics. The modern version is very minimalistic and sleek and the older version is more ornate.
